Within chapter 4 the Technology based learning environment stuck out to me. i think having an outside website, like as we have blackboard, would be helpful to the students. Within this website the students can find out homework assignments, post their assignments online, or ask the teacher any questions they have. With this it leaves the students no excuse for them to not do their homework. This method can be used within an elementary classroom too but instead of the website to be used by the students it can be used by the parents. When the student seem to not remember the homework or forgot their homework sheet at school then the parents can simply receive the homework from the website.
Within the list of apps I think the Rosetta Course- Rosetta Stone, LTD. app is helpful for students and teachers. If a teacher has an ELL student in their classroom who doesn't speak English the teacher can use this app to learn some basic words from this students language and communicate better with this student. This App can provide a great learning experience for any student who wants to learn another language. Another app that i actually have and like to use is the Blackboard Mobile Learn App. This allows anyone who is apart of blackboard to access the files and assignments from any Mobile device. This is helpful because it allows you to receive alerts and notices the professors send out on the phone. also the average person has their phone near them more than a computer. Flashcards+ is another great app that I've used in the past. This allows your to create note cards to help you study for a test. No more having to carry 100 note cards for each test that you have during midterms or finals week.
One website that i love to use during with my students is Brainpop.com. this is website that does need login access from the school but provides a bunch of instructional videos that engages the children. There also is a Brainpopjr.com which allows the students to go on and watch videos about different subjects and topics they are learning. This website provides videos within the science, social studies, English, math, health, engineering & Technology, and arts & music subjects.
In chapter 6 it talks about bookmarking and social bookmarking which are tools that offer teachers ways to locate information and organize it effectively using the web. i think this is such a great idea because so many teachers have desks filled papers and important notices get lost very easily. if all this information is on a computer there wont have to be cluttered desks in every classroom. Social bookmarking is the same idea but other people can see your ideas. when a teacher finds a great lesson on a certain topic they can post it onto any social bookmarking website and it will be shared with the rest of the group. I love this idea because its nice to have other teachers looking out for each other. So many teachers are teaching the same topic so why not share their ideas with each other.
Questions
Within chapter 4 they provided 5 different Technology-Based methods to incorporating technology into the classroom. Which one can you see yourself using and why?
In chapter 6 they talk about virtual field trips, where would you want to take your class on a virtual field trip because you know its not realistic for the class to actually go there?
